We got hit with a huge snow storm this weekend, and in honor of the four feet we got, I decided to paint my nails Opi Alpine Snow. This is one of my favorite polishes of all time. There's something about stark white nails that feels so chic to me!

This is one of my first polishes ever. I bought somewhere around 5 years ago (not sure the exact date) when I was trying to stop biting my nails, for me the trick was keeping them polished. To this day if they're not polished, I find myself still wanting to go back to biting, gross I know! Anyway, this is a gorgeous brown, It's got a bit of sparkle to it, but you have to look up close, to everyone else it will look like a chocolate brown. Wet n Wild Tropicalia

Here's another polish from the new wet-n-wild collection. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love the formula of these polishes. Over the weekend I made a trip to big lots to look for some dog toys for gift baskets I'm making, and lo and behold I passed an aisle and caught a peep of a sally hansen/ tracy reese runway display. Unfortunately there was only one polish left in the display: moonstone. This is silvery color, and had it not been the only one there, I must admit I would have passed it up. It's a pretty color but it's just not "my type"

And here's a couple of old favorites for you, up first is opi you don't know jacques. I had to file my nails short cuz they were getting too long for my tastes, and my favorite color to wear on short nails is something dark.

And here is rbl grunge (with and without flash) I cannot say enough how smooth and easy this goes on. The rbl formula is like buttah!

I present to you sally hansen extreme, cherry red. I love a good red, and this goes on nice and smooth (it also happens to be the color I wore for my wedding!)

Lilly Pulitzer is my absolute favorite designer/ lifestyle brand. Everything she does is so happy and cheery,you just can't help smiling! When I found out that mac was doing a lillyland collection I've been counting down the days! My package arrived yesterday and of course I had to do my nails right away. This color is coconut ice, it's a pale peach color, and looks great with fair skin. This is two coats, I think it would look even better with three, but I stopped at two. Definitely one of my new faves! (I'll have some pics of the other lillyland color, steamy, up later)

I decided to give the sally hansen insta dri's another try when I saw this color in the store. My first experience with the brush left me swearing I would never use another one again! I had a much easier application this time. The brush will never be my favorite but at least I found it workable this time (and the fast drying part doesn't hurt either!)

Ok, so I've bought 5 bottles in the past 2 days, but they were all under $5, so that doesn't make me too out of control right? I was out with the husband at Kmart over the weekend and ran into a new display of wet n wild polish. The bottles are round with little black tops, and the colors are all right up my alley, lots of pinks, reds, vampys, and coral! I picked just one to try out the new megalast formula. I love it, it's $1.99 but the quality is comparable to opi, (i'm only on day 2 of wear, so I can't speak for longevity yet) it goes on smooth and even. I picked up through the grapevine. Next up are some bottle pics, below is a pic of the new wet n wild, and a sally hansen xtreme called wet cement. This is another one I can't wait to try, i swatched it to my nail wheels over the weekend and it's so smooth and creamy!

Below are three more that I picked up sally hansen insta dri in mint sprint. Keep in mind I own two other insta dri's and hated the brush, but i'm gonna try again cuz this color is just too great. The bottle in the middle is pacific blue, I am not a big fan of blue polish, but this color was calling my name, lol. The bottle on the far right is "in the spotlight" it's a clear polish with silver holo strips in it. I've been getting into glitter more recently cuz it can easily save a smudged mani. If i don't have time to redo, I just add a glitter topcoat, and all smudges are camoflaged.

Rescue Beauty Lounge, I'm Hooked!

I recently took advantage of rbl's huge sale, and picked up two polishes grunge and coral. Before this I only owned one rbl polish, locavore, and I liked it, but the rbl creme polishes application is amazing! These are two coats each, with my usual base salon sciences instant artificials and topped with seche vite.

First up is grunge, this is the perfect edgy nude for fair skin! It works great on me for the "mannequin hands" trend.

This is coral, I'm a huge fan of pinks, reds, and corals. This is the perfect coral, it's bright enough to be young and modern, but also great for work cuz it doesn't veer into the neon territory.

Dog Themed Mani

Over the weekend my husband and I headed down to York Pa to go to the small paws expo. It's for dogs under 25 pounds, and it all benefits rescue groups. We had a great time, and in honor of the occasion I broke out some nail decals.

I usually don't like the look of nail art on me, but I was so happy with how my nails turned out, and we had a great time! These decals are by fing'rs, and the polish is Opi Alpine Snow.

It's been almost a month since I last posted and I have some pics for you. First up is a nail polish I picked up in the halloween section of walmart, it's a small green bottle with no name. This is two coats with my usual base coat of salon sciences instant artificials, and seche vite top coat.
On a recent trip to rite aid, i was shocked to find that they finally got in some new nail polish displays! There was a sinful display, it looked like a summer display (in october!), and I picked up bianca, I love pinks, and this fit the bill:

I got this idea from one of the blogs that I follow, cynful nails. She does an amazingly gorgeous gel glitter gradient mani. This is my attempt at it:

I used one coat of salon sciences instant artificials. Then 3 coats of RBL locavore, with each coat starting closer to the tip than the last. I then used another coat of salon sciences instant artificials, in an attempt to get the gel look. I topped it all off with a coat of seche vite. The pictures did not turn out that great, but irl it doesn't look too bad for my first try!

Wet n Wild, Wild Orchid

Today I'm rockin' some wet n wild, wild orchid. This brand brings me back to my childhood, i've received many a bottle in those little bags you used to get at the end of a birthday party. Well I saw this beauty sitting alone on the end of a store shelf, and I snagged it. I'm really starting to like purples! This one took three coats to be as bright as I wanted it, but it looks gorgeous so all is well!

Here's a polish I picked up over the summer when I was on vacation. I love to bring back souvenirs, and what better than nail polish! Everytime I wear it, I'm reminded of the vacay (I went to Bringantine Beach, by the way) I present to you Opi Grape Fit. Before this color, I was not a fan of purple nail polish, I'd worn it maybe twice in my life, but since picking this up in june, I've already sported about 4 purple mani's this summer. Maybe it's because it's not a true purple, its kind of dusty looking, but that's why I love it!

Last Friday I picked up the october issue of glamour, and on the cover is gwen stefani with white nails. I've tried white nails before, but the application just wasn't smooth, it went on streaky and reminded me of white-out! So I figured I'd give it another try, and went out and bought opi alpine snow. I wish I had bought this from the start, it goes on smooth, and the white looks high fashion, not like I slapped it on at recess!

Instant Artificials

I picked up some instant artificials after hearing about it on the nail board. I couldn't wait to try it, I've heard great things. I've been using it now for about 2 weeks, and I really like it. It takes a while to dry, but I think it's worth it. Worn alone it leaves nails shiny and hard, and you can use it as a base coat also. I don't know it if makes polish last longer, cuz honestly I change my polish too often to find out. You can find it at sallys beauty.

Opi Spain

Last night I picked up two of the colors from the opi spain collection. Here today aragon tomorrow was my first choice and my mani color for today. It looks good today, but application was a different story. This applied so thin and watery that it needed 3 coats. And weirdly enough it looked gritty going on, mind you it's completely a creme when it's dry.

I picked Give me moor for my pedi color. This is one of the colors I didn't plan on getting, but couldn't resist when I saw the bottle in person. I love dark colors like this. Here it is as a pedi (pics are pre cleanup, sorry)

and now that fall is coming hopefully I'll have more time to keep my blog up to date. I've got a recent mani/ pedi to show you. First up is zoya. I took advantage of the recent zoya promo to try the brand out. I bought envy, barbie, and charlize. I used envy for a mani color, and I have to say it lasts really well. I applied it on a thurs. and it survived 4 days, two of which were spent at a waterpark! Barbie looked amazing on my toes.

I know I've been away for a while, but I'm back with some awesome colors to share! First up is essie greenport. When I saw the pics of the north fork collection, I expected to be hunting and waiting forever to own this one, but to my surprise my ulta had it two weeks early!! (they never get anything early) This is two coats and the color just screams spring to me, it's gorgeous!

Next up is opi miami beet, this is from the south beach collection, and it's taken me awhile to get around to wearing this one. It's a great color, especially on my fair skin, but for some reason it feels more like a fall color to me.

Last, but not least, is misa push up bra. This color was extremely hard to photograph. Sometimes it looks orange, sometimes pink. Irl it's a bright pink coral. Not neon but close. (the second finger pic is a closer match to how it really looks .

I placed a pre-order for rescue beauty lounge locavore a while ago. It came yesterday and I just love it! I am normally not a glitter person, because they take too many coats and are never opaque enough for my tastes. (when I layer another color underneath I end up with about 7 coats of polish) This polish is amazing, I'm so glad I made the leap and splurged on this one. This is three coats and the glitter is opaque, but it's not scratchy like some glitters can be.

When you can't stop looking at your fingers you know it's a great polish!

Finally my notd. While watching antm with mom, I picked spit fire for both my fingers and toes. On my fingers I used my usual basecoat, borghese magnetico, then one coat of misa strawberry wine (a sheer pink), I followed that with coats of spit fire, and one coat of poshe. (I've put my seche to the side for now, I feel that the poshe dries shinier) The toenails are basecoat, 3 layers of spit fire, and poshe.

There's some news floating around about a new collection that essie may be doing for the summer. It is mostly blues and greens. I don't own a single blue polish, because normally I think they look weird with my skintone (a personal thing). If this collection is true, consider me a convert! I especially love the sag harbor set and hope to post a link to some pics soon!

This weekend I started aggressively getting my feet ready for sandal season. I'm the type that always uses a foot file and lotion, and always have fresh polish on my toes. (my polish obsession started with my feet afterall) But I did some extra cuticle cleanup, and decided that I wanted to go with a sheer polish. I believe barielle camo is meant to be a base coat, but I like it when I want to have a natural look (and I can't stand to be unpolished!)

I'm in the middle of a big move, and even though my nails are short, I still hate breaking them. I got an acrylic overlay over the weekend. If you're not familiar with this it's basically a thin layer of acrylic over your natural nail. It helps protect it and the best part... polish lasts way longer! I know the jury's still out on acrylics but done right they can look tasteful. So here they are before I polish them tonight.

I've tried out two of the new opi south beach colors so far. The first one I'll share with you is paint my moji-toes red. Which is exactly what I did! This makes an excellent pedi color, I loved it so much I did my fingers in it too. This is the perfect red color to complement fair skin!

The other color I have for you is feelin' hot hot hot. I love the color, but I can't say the same for the application. I had to do three coats of this one to get it opaque and smooth looking, it was a pita! It's redeeming quality is how gorgeous the pink is. I know I may be in the minority here, but I love this collection. Pinks and reds are my faves, so bring em on opi!

This is the color I wanted to use for the inauguration, but it didn't arrive in time, so here it is better late than never. It's a pretty red, but it's just another red. By that I mean that if you have other red polishes, this one isn't anything different than the rest of them. I had a little trouble with cuticle drag on this one too, maybe I should have done 3 coats?

After being m.i.a. for awhile, I'm back and I brought you something bright! This is one of the polishes from my misa order, bikini with a martini. It is bright! Almost glowing, it's hard for me to pin this color down, in some lights it looks hot pink, other times it looks like a bright orangey coral. This color definitely needs a good topcoat on me, like most neons it dries matte. Overall a gorgeous color!

I finally got around to trying this one. I'd been wanting it for a while and just finally got it. I love this color, but I don't love it as much as opi's you don't know jacques. This is a bit more purplish on me, while ydkj leans more toward brown. I also noticed some dragging at the cuticles with this one. (maybe I should have done 3 coats?)

The girls over at the nailboard had a summer in February day yesterday, and in honor of the occasion I used a new nail color. This is $opi in special request. This was a gift from my mom and I love the color. It's a coral that leans more toward orange, and It just screams summer. This is two coats of color with my usual top and base coats. It applied smoothly, and I'll definitely be needing more of these now!

This is the same color on my toes. The pictures look bubbly because I used solar spray and it beaded up on the nails' surface.

I don't know where I've been, but I just heard about the misa promotion today (thank you scrangie and polish addict) I called them right away and ordered 5 beautiful colors: bikini w/a martini, tnagy mango, girl next door, push up bra, strawberry wine. I could have easily ordered 12, but I have never tried this brand before and wanted to start out slow! On a side note, their customer service is amazing. The salesman who took my order was so friendly and funny! Pics as soon as they arrive!

Sorry solar balm, I have replaced you. My new love is sally hansen quick care massaging cuticle treatment. I saw a display of these and other treatments on display in my rite-aid, and have been using this for about a month. I love everything about it: it's easy to use, so I use it more often. Also it's less messy because you apply it with the rubber tip thing, which I really like the feel of. The rubber tip also has a built in cuticle pusher so you can smear on the oil, then push the cuticles back, and it's so gentle on them!

today's mani pedi is... essie pachinko pale. I really like this color, I received it in a swap months ago and forgot about it. I was looking for a good nude polish (inspired by an ad in harper's bazaar) and this is perfect. This is two coats, with a base and top coat.

Ok, so I'm a little late in jumping on the bandwagon, but I'm very excited none the less. My mom ordered me three of the $opi's, and they should be here in a couple of days, (if only my nails would grow that quick). I love new polishes, because there are very few colors that I wear repeatedly, and let's be honest a girl can never have too much polish, or shoes (but that's a different story). This weekend was a horrible weekend for my nails. My polish started chipping on friday, but I didn't have time to replace it, by sunday a bunch of my nails had breaks (a combination of doing laundry and the super cold weather we've been having) So I've filed them all to match the worst break, and they're super short. I'm almost too embarrased to post pics of my mani, but I liked the idea albeit on short nails. This is two coats of sally hansen xtreme in first blush, topped with one coat of a maybelline polish with pink hearts in it.

I stopped by rite aid on my lunch break today to see If they came out with anything new, and I ended up buying the new foot file by revlon. (It looks like a pink ped egg) I've used and loved the ped egg before, but it gets dull really quick for me. I am blown away by revlon's version. After I was done my feet are the softest they've been since I was a kid! One word of caution though: It's easy to get carried away and file off too much, so don't get crazy! Today's mani is opi red. This is definitely in my top 5 favorite colors of all time (along with you don't know jacques, lincoln park after dark, tickle my francey, and you're such a kabuki queen) This color is bold, but I consider red to be a neutral polish color. It goes good with just about every outfit, and looks great on most skin tones. This is my favorite red, in two coats it's opaque and just a true red creme. No shimmer, no sparkles, no gimmicks!

I saw the new display of sally hansen insta dri polishes yesterday, and the only one that jumped out at me was the white one, whirlwind white. I'm always trying to find a white polish that looks creamy and non-streaky. I applied one coat of this polish and it does cover pretty well in one coat. Then to keep it from looking too much like a grade school white out manicure I topped it off with one coat of sally hansen beyond perfect in white dove. The pics don't do this justice, I tried to capture the holo of it, in real life it has faint shimmers of pink and green, but not so much that it changes the color of the white underneath.

Yesterday I got a package in the mail from my elf! This polish is my favorite of the bunch. Here's some pictures of it, but I don't think the pictures do it justice. In reality the polish is a bright pink, slightly calmer than a neon pink. In these pics it looks orange though. Enjoy!

There are a couple of products that I use for every mani. I remove all polish with acetone, then I use soap and water and a nail brush to wash my nails off, then I use a prep that I picked up at sally beauty, It makes sure all oils are gone before I start. My b/c of choice is borghese magnetico, I always have good results with it. I apply two coats of color (I tend to do thick coats so two is almost always enough) My t/c of choice is seche vite.

I have also recently become obsessed with cuticle care (since participating on the mua nailboard) Every morning at my desk I apply cnd solar balm and push my cuticles back. (I'm guilty of trimming them every so often too)

Welcome to my blog. I was inspired to start one by all the other gals with great nail polish blogs. Please excuse the name, I wasn't at my most creative this morning. You'll notice that I tend to wear my nails short, and favor reds, pinks, and pale neutrals, hence the name. Hope you all enjoy!
